Welcome back to Song of the Week! This week, we move from Fuminamoon to Marinamoon for our featured song. The song? Kaolinite’s solo “Kagami Yo Moshi Ya” (“Mirror Can It Be”), which is exclusive to Mugen Gakuen (Kaiteiban).
As this song starts, Kaolinite notices her water mirror is disturbed, and wonders why it is so chaotic, and why her own soul feels so stormy. Going into the song, she begs her mirror for answers. While it normally gives unbiased, accurate answers, no matter the nature of the prediction, it isn’t giving such answers now. In fact, she can’t get any insight from it. She wonders if this is meant to be some kind of warning, that maybe the methods the Death Busters are employing against the Senshi are not enough to stop the light of destruction that threatens their plans from coming.
As a Kaiteiban-exclusive song, “Kagami Yo Moshi Ya” did not appear on a musical soundtrack. Instead, it was released on the special CD Eternal Edition 3, along with seven other songs from Mugen K, including Chibiusa’s new song “Pinky Typhoon” and Akiyama Chinatsu’s version of “Seijaku no Hostie.” A short instrumental variation of it, called “Kagami Yo Moshi Ya Henkei,” also appears on the special music cues CD Best Sound Track Vol. 3. It made its only fan event appearance at the Starlights*Ryuusei Densetsu Fankan, sung by Kaolinite’s original Mugen K actress, Kawasaki Miki, who was playing Kunzite in Starlights. It did not appear on any special videos.
That’s all for this week! Tune in next week for another Song of the Week!
