Welcome back to Song of the Week! This week’s song is a Miyukimoon one — “Yumemiru Mori no Yume no Yume” (“The Dreaming Forest’s Dream of Dreams”), Chibiusa and the Samael Quartet’s song from Transylvania no Mori and its Kaiteiban.
This song, in addition to having a mouthful of a name (it reminds me of the “yume ni yume ni yumemiru” line in the second xxxHolic ending), is kinda confusing in its lyrics. Basically, Chibiusa and the Samael Quartet meet in some kind of dream world, and the Samael Quartet realize Chibiusa’s voice is the one they’ve been hearing, while Chibiusa recalls meeting them in her dreams. But neither of them really knows what all that means yet. I guess it’s tied to the overall story of the Dracul Arc, which I don’t know cause I haven’t seen all four Dracul myus yet. But as far as I can tell, the context is this: the Samael Quartet hear Chibiusa’s voice because they were created in the Samael Flasks by Faux Professor Tomoe in the first Dracul Arc musical, Last Dracul Jokyoku, using Chibiusa’s Pure Heart Crystal, which the bad guys had captured in order to make the homunculi they were trying to make. However, the Crystal was rescued from the Flasks before the Quartet were fully grown, so their connection to Chibiusa (fleshed out in Transylvania no Mori) was limited. Ultimately, though, they break free of the bad guys’ control and awaken as the Sailor Quartet, Chibiusa’s guardian Senshi. Which is pretty cool.
“Yumemiru Mori no Yume no Yume” appears on two CDs — the soundtrack for Transylvania no Mori (Memorial of the Musical 9) and the special CD Eternal Edition 3, which is full of songs by Chibiusa and other kid characters. It does not appear on any special videos, and it doesn’t seem to have appeared at any events, although it does appear on the Transylvania no Mori Guide Video, so maybe it did.
That’s all for this week! Tune in next week for another Song of the Week!
